  • a. Awesome Louie
    null null
Louie showed up and followed an employee into Mt. Pleasant Animal Hospital in November 2012.  He was sweet and full grown, yet he was not fixed.  We searched for an owner with no luck.  After testing for diseases and neutering Louie, we sought to find him a new home.  However, Louie had claimed Mt. Pleasant Animal Hospital as his home & family and now lives here full-time.  Here daily to greet the pets and people as they arrive, he is well suited to be a humble ambassador for us.  Louie is loved by all who meet him.
  • a. Cam
    null null
Cam is owned by Dr. Orr's oldest son, Dustin, who is also a veterinarian. He is thought to be a mix between a Corgi and a Chihuahua. Cam was originally found wandering the streets of Concord by an elderly woman who rescued him when he was just a little puppy! However, due to his energetic and playful attitude at that age, she felt she couldn't properly take care of him and brought him in to the animal hospital to see if anyone could adopt him. Dustin, a veterinary student at the time, developed a bond with Cam and decided it was time to have a pet of his own. Cam's original name was Bootz, but Dustin, being a huge Carolina Panthers fan, decided to change his name to Cam after Cam Newton the Panthers new star quarterback. So far that has turned out to be a lucky name! Cam actually now resides with Dustin in the beautiful coastal town of Arecibo along the northern coast of Puerto Rico.  Dustin moved there in July 2015 with his girlfriend Laura to start their veterinary careers after they both completed veterinary school in May of 2015 at North Carolina State University (Go Wolfpack!). Cam now spends most of his days chasing geckos, lounging in the nice Caribbean sun, and running on many of the magnificent beaches around Puerto Rico! Lucky dog!
  • a. Dottie
    null null
Dottie is Dr. Orr's special dog.  She is a border collie mix.  Dottie was brought to the animal hospital in January 2013 by a good Samaritan who found her wondering in the streets.  Since Dr. Orr has a special love of border collies, he decided to bring her home to his house.  Dottie is a loving member of the family but also is a good, protective watch dog when unknown sounds occur. However, she is shy around strangers or new objects that appear in her environment!  Dottie loves being outside in the yard no matter what the weather but loves to end the day on the living room couch with Mom & Dad.
  • a. Hunter
    null null
My name is Hunter. I was born in 2007 and live with the Aschenbrenner family. My favorite thing to do is lay around under the covers of my familiar beds. I also love to steal the food from the other dogs & cat in the house. When I really feel playful, I will run through an open door or dig a hole under the fence & go to visit the neighbor's bird feeder, eat the horses' grain or roll in the great smelling stuff in the pasture!  I also love to chase rabbits (I am a beagle, after all!)
  • a. Jag
    null null
Jag belongs to Dr. & Paula Orr.  He actually is their son Joshua's cat. Josh chose Jag out of a group of kittens because he was very playful and didn't have a tail!  Jag is a manx cat. Manx cats originated on the Isle of Man, off the coast of Great Britain, among a population of cats whose common ancestry sprang from the same roots as the British Shorthair. A spontaneous mutation occurred at some point several hundred years ago, which created kittens born without the vertebrae that form the tail of normal cats. With the passage of centuries and due to the isolation of the cats from outside breeding, the taillessness eventually became a common characteristic among the Isle of Man cats, because the mutated gene is a dominant trait.  Jag loves to spend all day outside and then come in for dinnertime where he usually spends the rest of the night inside.  He desires to have his food "fluffed" before he eats it and will usually meow what sounds like "now" when he needs it done!  Jag definitely loves people and his dog companions.
  • a. Mack
    null null
Mack is a 3 year old small Chihuahua mix found by a client 2 years ago.  He was hiding in a ditch, thin, covered with fleas and had a very large bullet hole in his stomach.  Although his injury was huge, he was still in good spirits and had a strong will to live.  He caught Barb's heart as well as the rest of the staff, and with 2 surgeries, we were able to repair his wound, using a piece of common screen door screen.  The screen was sewn into his stomach to hold his intestines in place.  Then Mack endured bandaging the area twice daily for 6 weeks.  He pulled through this awful ordeal and has been living the good life ever since.  He comes to the animal hospital every day with Barb and lives a happy life chasing squirrels, sleeping in beds and barking at horses.
  • a. Randi
    null null
Randi is a little petite feline who belongs to Paula, our office manager.  One dark winter night, Dr. Orr & Paula's son, Josh, looked over at the back glass door and saw not only Jag, his cat, but another very badly undernourished and scared gray cat standing at the door looking in.  When he opened the door, Jag came in but the gray cat ran off.  However, the next night, she was back again with Jag looking in the back door.  Once again she ran off.  The next afternoon, Paula saw her in their driveway and took a bowl of cat food out to the back porch.  Then she sat down in their porch swing.  Within a few minutes, the gray cat came up on the porch and ate the food.  Then within just a couple of more minutes, the gray cat jumped up in Paula's lap and began rubbing her face against Paula's face.  That evening, the door was opened, Randi ran in and jumped up on the couch to enjoy the rest of the night.  She now spends most of her time inside the house when her family is home even though she has 12 acres available to enjoy.  Randi also loves her favorite dog friend Flash and often encourages him to lick her face and ears.  In fact, when Flash and Dottie go outside, Randi runs right behind them to go with them.
  • a. Tilly
    null null

Tilly is a 12 year old Golden Retriever born in 2003 in a cozy family room in New Hampshire. She is very friendly and feels it's her job in life to greet people with a wiggle and a wag.  She has learned to pose like a pro for pictures and has had enough pictures taken to make four calendars.  She earned her CBC (Canine Good Citizen) certificate and is allowed to visit nursing homes and hospitals as a therapy dog.  Her hobbies are modeling, swimming and eating.  NOTE: Tilly went over the rainbow bridge December 9, 2015.  She is sorely missed but will forever be our SUPER MODEL and friend to all!!
